Greeneville and Greene County will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our country in front of the Greene County Courthouse.

Tennesseans will join communities across the United States in reading the Declaration of Independence aloud together at 6 pm EDT on July 8. The initiative, called Sharing the Spirit of America, was developed by the Hawaii America 250 Commission. The Tennessee Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will be leading this initiative in our state, so check their website for updates in 2026.

Anybody can join in, so start thinking about how to involve local schools, religious communities, civic organizations, and families!
